Riise Pushing For Roma Deal

The arrival of Italian defender Andrea Dossena means that the powerful Norwegian is likely to get the chop this summer, with Serie A side Roma mooted to be the most likely destination.

Rafa Benitez recently admitted that he would be willing to part with the 27-year-old for the right price, which currently looks to be set at £5 million.

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has already gone on record sa saying that Riise would be a good fit, but is likely to baulk at the current asking price.

"That was nice what was said by the coach (Spalletti), but this is only something I have heard from media reports," said Riise.

"I have only one year of my contract left, so the price is lower than a year ago - 50 million Norwegain Kroner seems a little high for me.

"I need to play and need to be in a team where I can become better, because I know I can become better.

"When you change club, you get a kick-start and a set of new challenges."
