James Milner has agreed to become Liverpool's first signing of the summer.
Milner has agreed personal terms on a free transfer from Manchester City and will officially move to Anfield on July 1, subject to a medical.
The 29-year-old has been a top target and is expected to be the first of several new arrivals as the Reds boss looks to improve on a disappointing season.
City were keen to hold on to Milner and had offered the midfielder a deal that is believed to have been worth more than the one tabled by Liverpool.
However, Milner has been attracted to Anfield by the opportunity of more regular football in his preferred central midfield role.
With Milner now in the bag, Liverpool will turn their attentions to tying up a deal for another free agent, Burnley striker Danny Ings.
